We Want More! Booka Shade US Tour Dates & Album Launch

Posted on 18 May 2010

TheMST recently sampled the fourth studio album from Berlin-based electronic movers and shakers, Booka Shade (composed of Arno Kammermeier and Walter Merziger). More! launched May 4th, is a 45-minute, 11 track, album that presents an unusually fresh take on the electro sound. The focus of the music brings listeners back to the roots of the genre–the beat. With post-industrial grooves, urban melodies and minimal overtones, More! boasts the electronic quality that has made Booka Shade such a top act, but is progressive enough to demonstrate the group’s abilities.

More! provides anything but top-40 pop electro, lyrical commercialism, or predictable symphonic rhythms. Rather, it is a modish, often eerily dark approach to electronic music. Shining tracks like—“Donut;” (vs. M.A.N.D.Y) which could easily fit swimmingly on the runway in Milan, and “The Door;” caring a more space-odyssey vibe—are nearly addictive. “Divine” (feat. Yello) grooves like a chilly David Lynch scene, speeding on a lost road of minimal dance—with car beams on full force. The blending of styles and sounds is evident with the transitional song “Scaramanga,” having more trance-pop qualities.

Kammermeier, part of the Booka Shade duo, explains, “We wanted this album to be more energetic, with strong grooves and of course the typical Booka Shade melodies and atmospheres that we love.  The album takes you through every stage of the night out; the excitement before you go out, the party, the late, late night, a bit of paranoia…and then the sunny morning of a new day.”

Kammermeier, certainly speaks the truth!
