The Music Street Team’s Guide to Ibiza Clubbing

Posted on 16 June 2010

I am heading to Ibiza this week so I asked another MST member what I should do on my long weekend and here is Amy Turner’s response (she worked there for a summer, so my trust is in her):

Space is one of the most popular places on a Sunday, it used to be on all day but now it doesn’t start til about 4.30 I think because of the change in music laws; the music on Bora Bora beach also doesn’t start until about 4.30 for the same reason (whatever you do – don’t pay on the door for anything! It will be more expensive so get your tickets before you go, a lot of places will give you free drinks with your ticket as well).

Pacha is amazing – but pretty expensive inside, a bottle of water is at least 10 euro and spirit & mixer would be at least 15 euro but Pacha cannot be missed. If you get the chance, go check out VIP upstairs, you will know why when your there.

The other bar that is an essential is called Ushuaia, its in Playa D’en Bossa and normally free to get in, its open until 12. Luciano owns it and is doing parties every Sunday this summer, it’s quite a cool underground kinda of scene – not many tourists. The after party is held in Pacha.

There is also a little hotel in Figueretas called Es Vive which is quite fancy, my friend (Dazzla) has a residency there and plays every Sunday and its free to get in – it’s in a tiny little sound proof room in the hotel. We used to go there after space a lot but if you are only there for a few days & have other plans I wouldn’t go out of your way to fit it in but definitely go if you are staying near there.

If you like Luciano then you would probably like Cocoon at Amnesia, this is my favourite night in Ibiza!! Amnesia is a club you should definitely experience too , it is probably the best club in terms of clubbing experience, the layout, the sound system everything about it is amazing (its where Kevin & Perry was filmed too…). Cocoon is normally with Richie Hawtin or Sven Vath and the music in there is amazing! I would definatley recommend Cocoon if you like techno. This is on a Monday night.

And you should definitely check out Eivissa – its really cool, its full of little stalls and bars and restaurants and its really bohemian, you can see all the yachts at the port and you can walk around the ruins, Pacha also do their parades around Ibiza town which are quite cool to see and check out. Ibiza old town this has a really cool gay scene.

Saturday night tends to be the quietist in terms of big nights but The Zoo Project is on during the day, its about 5 mins outside of san Antonio in an old abandoned zoo, a really cool venue. There is a pool there too, and it’s on during the day time til about midnight and there is a boat party before hand too. It’s quite touristy and everyone in there will be off their faces (ha!) but its cool for the venue and its techno and house music. Workers can normally get in free to zoo project.

The west end in San Antonio is just like any other Brit tourist area like Magaluf or Malia – just tacky cheap drinks and loads of loud Brits – not the best but its dirt cheap if you want to get hammered!

You should definately go check out a sunset though! Ibiza sunsets are famous – sunset strip is in San Antonio and there is Café Mambo or Savannahs, they play really chilled sunset music and you can sit and have a meal or drinks in there and overlook the water. Or if you want to do it the cheap way, you can buy drink from the shop and sit on the rocks just in front of the bar which loads of people do – (I used to do this every night when I lived there – incredible).

The only other thing I would mention is there is a disco bus that runs from san antonio to

Playa d’en bossa and its stops in Ibiza town and at most the clubs along the way, Its about 2euro and runs once an hour through til 6am so if you are wanting to save money and not pay for a taxi you can always do that.

The best place to check for who is playing, where, about the disco bus etc is Ibiza Spotlight:
