ATB, Eric Prydz and Sébastien Léger Storm New York at Nokia Theatre Times Square

Posted on 17 March 2010

It’s going to be epic this weekend in New York City. A week before The Greatest in electronic dance music parade down to the beach breeze of Miami for the 2010 Winter Music Conference, several DJ heroes are getting the world warmed up, pre-Florida, in NYC. On Friday March 19th, German Trance savior, ATB will take over Made Event and Armani Exchange’s Nokia Theatre Times Square Dance Series with a set bound to please progressive trance lovers and Balearic Beat worshipers alike. The following evening, March 20th, DJ/producers; Swedish House Mafia sensation, Eric Prydz and Dutch/French star, Sébastien Léger, will close out the double-feature weekend at the Nokia. (DJ Hell and Abe Dunque will also work magic at Cielo on the 20th, if you have to do it all: http://www.madeevent.com/events/DJ-Hell-Cielo-Mar-2010-madeweb).

ATB (André Tanneberger) exploded onto charts around the world with dance anthem “9PM (Till I Come)” in 1998 and proved he was here to stay with hits “Don’t Stop!” “Killer,” Ecstasy,” “Marrakech” and “Hold You.” The Freiberg, Germany artist has released over a dozen compilations and studio albums to great critical and commercial success. He has sold tens of millions of records.

ATB’s return to NYC, after a mesmerizing set at Electric Zoo 2009, comes just as the fifth installation of his The DJ (5) in the Mix compilation is released under Kontor Records. ATB commented: “The people surrounding me and the people in the clubs provide a constant feedback while I’m performing, so they are active in the creation of the set at every second. So therefore the sets I play are the product of all this input of all the people in the club. I think on the three CD’s of ATB THE DJ 5 I successfully managed to capture and to express this special creative process, and I hope that listeners can enjoy listening to them.”

The compilation consists of three distinct sets.  The first is composed of a “modern club” vibe, while the second drifts into ATB’s signature and stellar progressive style.  The final CD is a sizzling run of remixes featuring ATB’s all-time favorite’s, including classics: “9 PM (Till I Come),” “Gravity” and “L.A. Nights.”

Eric Prydz broke mainstream with addictive floor-filler, “Call on Me,” a remix of Steve Winwood’s “Valerie,” which went gold in France and Switzerland; and platinum in Australia. Since then, this new prince of house has released winners “Proper Education” (a Pink Floyd remix) and UK chart-topper “Pjanoo.” Having (personally)  experienced the thrill of his set at Sensation White Antwerp 2007, this Grammy-nominee will deliver far beyond any reveler’s expectations.

Sébastien Léger is well known for fantastic, minimal tech-house beats, his Sessions program on Ministry of Sound Radio, and popular tracks “Hypnotized” and “Hit Girl.” Léger appeared on the radar around 1999, with his signature clash of classic techno, funky electro-house and futuristic minimalism. He sites the rich musical histories of Detroit and Chicago as inspiration for his sound. Under his label, Mistakes, which he also manages, Léger has released a phenomenal amount of remixes, singles and albums over the past 10 years—his most recent endeavor being a remix of Cirez D’s “On/Off.” He has also remixed the likes of Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Ida Engberg, Justin Timberlake, Duran Duran, Groove Armada and Armand van Helden.
