Recently at a music gathering (with open bar..) I bumped into Devonte Hynes, also known as Lightspeed Champion. I used the moment to ask him a few quick questions and acted like a stupid fan….

Christian: Hey, can I just check, are you Dev Hynes?

Devonte: Well, devonte..

Christian: Sorry! Ermm well I know i’m late, but I just came across your cover of the Cribs song ‘Men’s Needs’ (featured below), its great!!

Devonte: What cover? I never recorded that…

Christian: Oh I found it on Youtube it was recorded for MTV2

Devonte: Oh yeah, well I actually ask people around me not to tell me that kind of thing. It freaks me out to see it all spread.

Christian: Oh really, sorry! haha, so I recently interviewed We Are Scientists, at All Points West.

Devonte: Yeah I was there! I love playing with them, Keith is like my best friend.

Christian: Yeah, definately a highlight of the festival for me! So What have you got coming up for the future?

Devonte: Oh man I got loads coming out. I am releasing a lot of stuff under ‘Blood Orange’ (see below), and really working on my comics – read more at his website.

At this point I got dragged away as we had to rush to Tiesto’s opening show for his Kaleidoscope tour. Devonte is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, thank god i didnt get any more chance to make a fool of myself. Check out his latest Blood Orange release, his music just gets better and better…
