This weekend, San Francisco-based producer and long time dance music veteran, Behrouz Nazari takes a crack at Dance.Here.Too, the pulsating Saturday weekly dance party at Santos Party House. The Rob Fernandez and Benny Soto dance night features an eclectic array of dance music styles from prominent DJs; accompanied by all the projections, lasers, intelligent lighting and effects a dance floor reveler could ask for. Behrouz comments: “My sound is impossible to categorize, but if I were to give it my best shot, I would describe it as a Myriad of different subgenres of music I have experimented with during my past 20 years of DJing.” It is that approach that caters well to the diverse sounds Dance.Here.Too caters towards. “It’s composed of sexy music incorporating the finer elements of deep house, tribal, and progressive beats, with a touch of electro and minimal techno,” elaborates Behrouz on his musical technique.
With gigs at world-renowned megaclubs such as Pacha, Ibiza; Space, Ibiza; Crobar, Miami, New York and Chicago; Ruby Skye, San Francisco; and Red Light, Paris, Behrouz has earned respect alongside top electronic dance music artists. He has collaborated with the industry’s best including Deep Dish, Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed, Carl Cox, and Pete Tong. By 2004, Behrouz’s notoriety garnered him a nomination for “Best Breakthrough DJ” at the 2004 Dancestar awards at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. A year later, he took the 2005 “Best Resident DJ” at the Club World Awards for his residency, “Pure” at San Francisco’s Ruby Skye.
Behrouz is best recognized for his work in 2003 on the Yoshitoshi 2 “In House We Trust” CD series and the 2002 remix of “Safe from Harm” (which soured to Number 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart that year.)
